Rain-darkened eucalyptus trunks rise through a dense panorama of new green growth, while burnt and rust-coloured foliage remains embedded throughout the forest. After waiting for mist and light rain to clear, sunlight begins to enter the trees, separating trunks, leaves and new vegetation from the darker forest behind.
What interests me is the coexistence of damage and recovery. Nothing has been returned to what it was. Instead, the landscape has begun making something new from what remains.
