Abstract Surf and Wave Fine Art Photographs
‘With Wonderful Chaos, I invite viewers into a meditation on turbulence and calm—a visual elegy to nature’s power and my own journey through recovery, made manifest in light, motion, and paper.’
In this Collection, the dynamic interplay of wave and abstraction unfolds with a visceral, painterly elegance. Drawing on the raw energy of the Tasman Sea at Kiama on New South Wales’ South Coast, this series transcends literalism—embracing instead the tumultuous beauty of motion caught in flux. Long-exposure captures of crashing waves collide with mirrored, reversed, and layered fragments of time, yielding compositions that feel both elemental and elusive.
This layered approach speaks to the artist’s personal history. After nearly losing his sight following eye surgery, he spent an extended time recuperating not only physically but emotionally—rediscovering the world through blurred, shifting impressions. These works crystallise that fragile recovery, embodying the fragmented memory, blurred vision, and eventual clarity that shaped his creative rebirth.
Each piece embodies exceptional craftsmanship. Printed as Master Editions—limited to just two prints per image—Wonderful Chaos is available in square formats (Medium 60 × 60 cm, Large 90 × 90 cm, Extra-Large 120 × 120 cm). These archival-quality prints are rendered on sumptuous Cotton Rag paper, offering texture that invites tactile engagement. Each comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, affirming both artistic and material integrity.
There is an inherent tension in Wonderful Chaos: a deliberate restlessness resolved through the serenity of print. The manipulated layers of movement reflect a restless mind, yet the quiet balance of composition—along with the archival medium—grounds the work with permanence and sensitivity. These images hold time, memory, and emotion in suspension.
