The Sky — Fine Art Photography
I have always looked up. The sky changes faster than almost anything else I photograph, and it asks for a particular kind of attention: weather arriving, light finding the edge of a cloud, an aircraft trail, a bird briefly crossing an open field of brightness.
These photographs were made in different places and with different cameras, from the panoramic colour of Fuji Velvia to black-and-white photographs and an iPhone. What connects them is less the technique than the act of noticing. Sometimes the sky overwhelms the landscape; sometimes something very small becomes the whole reason for making the picture.
The Sky is about atmosphere, scale and those brief arrangements of light and form that appear overhead and then disappear. Making the print gives something physical back to those fleeting encounters—a photograph that can be held, lived with and looked at again.
The photographs are produced as small limited editions on archival cotton rag paper, with individual edition details listed with each work.
