Trunks rise from the wetland water at Salamander Bay, each with its own curve, gesture and direction. Against the pale surface they begin to resemble figures sharing the same stage.
The exposure lasted more than ten minutes. Water lost its texture, changing light travelled through the photograph and the reflections of the trunks stretched downwards into softness.
I had photographed and watched these trees before.
On this morning the tide, weather and light briefly organised them differently.
I didn't arrange the dance. I was simply there when it happened.
