The same shoreline offers a very different picture in colour.

The ochres, olive greens and deep browns of kelp rest against pale sand while the distant sea dissolves towards blue. Removed from the water, the kelp becomes something almost sculptural—an object temporarily deposited between two environments.

Wind moved its finer edges during the exposure, while the incoming tide threatened to rearrange the scene entirely.

Nothing here was placed for the photograph.

The tide brought it. The wind moved it. I found it in between.
