Water has withdrawn, leaving its passage written briefly across the sand.
Small ridges, channels and folds catch the light, transforming the surface into a miniature landscape. Without a horizon or any familiar reference of scale, the photograph becomes ambiguous. What is only a small section of beach might equally suggest mountains, river systems or terrain seen from far above.
I am drawn to these temporary arrangements — patterns created without intention and destined to disappear with the next movement of water. Light reveals their structure for a moment, tracing edges and lifting forms from the darkness.
The photograph is less about describing a beach than noticing what the beach has made.
A landscape within a landscape, found before the water returns.
