The track curves through the Kangaroo Island bush, but the picture is really about the patch of late light falling across its sandy surface.

I was on my way to feed the chooks. Wallabies often appeared along this track in the afternoon, although they never seemed to coincide with light like this when I had the camera ready. Here the anticipated animal is absent and the track itself becomes enough—the warm opening ahead held between darker vegetation.

It is a quieter picture than the coastal photographs from Kangaroo Island, and I think that difference belongs in the collection.
