This is one of the more contained gestures in the series. Lenio's arms bend towards her body, her head lowers and the movement seems momentarily concentrated rather than expansive.

The figure is held towards the left of the frame, leaving darkness to carry much of the composition. Soft light describes the face, shoulders and arms before falling away through the black clothing.

I was photographing a performance, but pictures like this remind me that movement does not always have to look fast. A dance can pass through an instant of compression and stillness before it changes direction again.
