These steps hold their history on the surface.

Paint has disappeared from the edges. Concrete has been marked and worn by weather, saltwater and generations of feet. They curve into the foreground with a physicality that is quite different from the more distant structures in Intersection.

Beyond them, the long exposure softens the pool while a swimmer rests almost motionless between the railings. The human figure is small, but important. The wear on these steps came from people: swimmers arriving, leaving, sitting, waiting and returning.

I am interested in places where repeated ordinary use gradually becomes visible.

No single person made these marks.

Collectively, countless people did.

For Australia-based clients, framing options include dry-mounting your giclée print to an acid-free 5mm foam board with an archival adhesive film. This is then placed in a hand-crafted shadowbox frame made from FSC-certified Australian timber, protected by durable 3mm museum-grade plexiglass.
