Wind and tide have transformed the pool into a restless surface of peaks, troughs and spray, while the railings trace a rigid geometry through the disorder. Beyond them, ocean and storm-laden sky seem to merge. Photographed in black and white, the familiar architecture of an ocean pool becomes something more elemental — a fragile human boundary imposed upon the sea. For a moment the distinction between pool and ocean almost disappears, leaving water, weather and the persistent energy of the coast.’
