The weathered concrete structure dominates the foreground, its pale surface and dark doorway standing against an approaching storm. Beyond it, rails descend towards water softened by the long exposure, while heavy clouds gather across the horizon. Human presence has disappeared; what remains is the architecture we have constructed at the edge of the ocean, exposed to weather, salt and time. The photograph holds a moment when this ordinarily communal place becomes quiet, solitary and elemental.’
