White water fills almost the entire square composition, crossed by narrow traces of deeper turquoise. Individual waves have dissolved into broad, overlapping streams of movement. There is no horizon and no stable viewpoint; the eye is left to travel through layers of water that seem simultaneously violent and strangely quiet.
The source photographs record the Tasman Sea, but the finished work is constructed from several moments rather than one. Fragments are reversed, flipped and layered until the original sequence of time becomes impossible to recover.
Chaos is still present.
What interests me is finding the point where it begins to feel calm.
