Wonderful Chaos One #2875

from $1,200.00

Wonderful Chaos One begins with recognisable water and then allows it to slip away.

Pale turquoise and white currents move across the square frame without horizon, shoreline or any fixed point of reference. Layers of extended-exposure surf overlap and fold into one another until waves become soft gestures—part water, part brushstroke, part memory of movement.

I am interested in the point where the photograph stops explaining what the ocean looked like. By reversing, layering and recombining fragments of moving water, I add my own disorder to the natural chaos of the sea.

Eventually the turbulence finds a balance.

That is the moment when I stop moving the pieces and let the picture become still.
