I know this is a road, but that isn't really what holds me in the picture.
Movement has taken the trees apart, turning them into a surface of yellow, ochre, brown and green. The road markings survive more clearly, pulling everything towards the distance, while a pale opening above them seems almost to continue the road into the trees.
This is what interests me about making photographs while travelling. A place can disappear almost as quickly as it arrives. What remains is not necessarily an accurate description of where I have been, but a combination of colour, movement and recollection.
The Yellow Road sits somewhere between landscape and abstraction. There is enough information to recognise the journey, but not enough to make the destination important.
