This photograph holds onto more of the physical grass than some of the other pictures in the series.
Thin stems, small leaves and bright fragments overlap in a dense network of blue, bronze, green and white. Movement interrupts their outlines without completely erasing them, so the photograph shifts between description and abstraction depending on where I look.
That uncertainty is part of what drew me to the series. A subject as ordinary as roadside grass can contain far more visual complexity than I first notice. Light and movement do not have to conceal what is there; sometimes they simply make its structure easier to see.
