In black and white, colour disappears and the surface becomes the subject. Deep channels descend through the rock like folds while light catches the rounded upper face. Vegetation rises across the foreground and heavy clouds seem to echo the shapes and movement within the stone.
The familiar outline of Uluru is almost absent.
What remains is texture, mass and light—the evidence of an immense landscape gradually shaped over time.
Sometimes looking more closely at a place makes it less familiar, and therefore possible to see again.
