Shoreline and Wetland

I keep returning to the places where land and water meet. The shoreline is never quite fixed. Waves arrive and retreat, tides expose and conceal, wind redraws the sand, and objects carried by the sea are temporarily left behind. In wetlands the same exchange happens more slowly, measured through water, trees and changing tides.

Many of these photographs use long exposures to hold more than a single instant. Moving water becomes a trace of time; people appear and disappear; waves lose their familiar shape and become lines, colour and movement.

Others began with quieter discoveries—a piece of kelp, patterns in wet sand, footprints fading at the water's edge or trees standing within an advancing tide.

The landscape changes continuously and I am interested in these temporary arrangements.

I photograph the things it allows me to find before they disappear again.Each print, released in an edition of five or fewer, is produced on sumptuous archival cotton-rag paper and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
