A heavy rope lies across a weathered timber jetty at Nords Wharf, its loops and braided surface becoming the dominant forms in the photograph.
I had composed the picture and then waited for a narrow band of afternoon light to arrive. When it did, the light caught the timber, rope and supporting pylons while the surrounding water remained quiet and subdued.
The photograph is less about the lake itself than the things left at its edge—the materials, marks and small arrangements that become pictures when light briefly gives them importance.
