black & white fine art photography
Photographing in black and white is seductive. I often ‘see’ in monotone, stripping colour from the light as it hits and misses the scene, face or body before me. I can find a black and white picture before I even set up a camera.
It takes time to absorb the light, the dark and the tones in between, visualising the final print, before opening the shutter. Though vitally important, operating the camera is just an iota of the black and white process.
My prints are made to archival standards by myself or my trusted, expert printer. They are sized to suit the original film scan or digital capture for optimal viewing. I carefully match the files' technical qualities to the mood and nuance of the original scene.
Larger prints boldly dominate a wall while smaller ones are perfect for mantles, shelves or compact spaces. You can find out more about the process here.
The galleries are organised by edition size and price point. Beginning with the very affordable 25 edition collections through the limited 12 edition sets to the very exclusive 5 edition series. You can also type a keyword or descriptive phrase into the search engine - you’ll be surprised by what you find.
